Te mapa
Sinp’o lies on the east coast of North Korea in South Hamgyong Province, facing the East Sea. The town occupies a stretch of coastline cut into bays and inlets, with low hills rising behind it and Mayang Island lying close offshore. Its layout is shaped by the harbour, with streets running along the waterfront and extending inland toward higher ground.
Sinp’o has long been known for fishing and fish processing, and it also has a shipbuilding industry. Detailed public information about the town is limited, as it is for most of North Korea, and open maps show mainly its coastline, main roads and built-up areas rather than the fine detail available for other ports of its size.
A Sinp’o map poster is therefore defined by its coastline. The irregular shoreline, the harbour basins and the nearby island carry most of the design, while the town's streets form a simpler pattern inland. It is a spare, maritime composition, well suited to the quieter styles and to anyone drawn to places that are seldom seen in detail.
The shore bends into bays and headlands around the town, creating a complex edge that becomes the most striking feature of the map.
An island lies just offshore, close enough to appear in the same frame as the town, a solid shape set against the open sea.
Piers and sheltered water around the port form geometric shapes along the waterfront, in clear contrast with the natural curves of the coast.

Koteā ko Sinp’o
Sinp’o appeals to people with family roots in South Hamgyong, to researchers and to collectors of maps of hard-to-visit places. A poster of it shows what maps can show: the coast, the harbour and the outline of a town few outsiders have seen.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, including an alternative spelling such as Sinpo. Choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint, and download the HD files or order a printed poster on matte paper.
