Te mapa
Songjiang lies in the south-west of the Shanghai municipality, on the upper reaches of the Huangpu River, and it is often called the root of Shanghai because its history as a county seat predates the city itself. On the map it is a patchwork: an old town centre, rings of newer residential estates and a web of canals and streams crossing the flat delta land.
The Sheshan hills rise in the north-west of the district, the only real high ground in the area, crowned by a basilica and an old observatory. Nearby, Songjiang University Town gathers several universities into one campus zone, and Thames Town, a development modelled on an English market town, adds its own unusual street pattern.
A Songjiang map poster shows a district in transition between water town and suburb. The canals keep their meandering lines, newer roads cut straight and wide across them, and the campuses appear as broad rectangles with quads and sports fields inside. In black and white the mix becomes surprisingly graceful, more varied than central Shanghai and far less crowded.

Several university campuses sit side by side, their long buildings, courtyards and sports fields forming large open rectangles that are easy to pick out from the surrounding estates.
Rivers and canals thread across the district and feed into the upper Huangpu, drawing fine curved lines between the straight roads of newer development.

Koteā ko Songjiang
Songjiang is where many students spend their university years and many families buy their first home in Shanghai. A map of it marks a campus, an estate or a quiet lane in the old town, and makes a thoughtful graduation or housewarming gift.
Set a title such as your university or estate, add a year as the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a digital download or a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
