Te mapa
Stavanger occupies the tip of a peninsula in south-western Norway, with the Gandsfjord to the east, the Hafrsfjord to the west and the wide Boknafjord opening to the north. Its map is a lacework of coastline: inlets, small harbours and a scatter of islands linked to the city by bridges. At the centre, the small lake Breiavatnet sits between the cathedral and the railway station.
Stavanger Cathedral, begun in the early twelfth century, is often described as Norway's best-preserved medieval cathedral. Old Stavanger has one of northern Europe's best-kept districts of white-painted wooden houses. Since North Sea oil was discovered in the late 1960s, the city has been the centre of Norway's petroleum industry and is home to Equinor's headquarters and the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.
A Stavanger map poster brings together the old harbour at Vågen, the curving streets of the wooden house districts, the suburbs stretching south toward Sandnes and the intricate shoreline all around. Few cities of this size have so much edge between land and water, and in monochrome that edge becomes the whole design.
The narrow inner harbour cuts into the city centre. Its western side is lined by the wooden houses of Old Stavanger.
This small oval lake in the centre lies between the cathedral and the station and is one of the most recognisable shapes on any Stavanger map.
To the north-east, a chain of small islands is tied to the mainland by bridges, extending the city across the water in a sequence of small forms.

Koteā ko Stavanger
Stavanger draws people from all over the world, many through the energy industry, and many stay longer than they planned. Its map is a lasting reminder of fjord light, wooden houses and the harbour, and it makes a thoughtful parting gift for colleagues.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, and five styles are available, with Blueprint and Noir suiting the coastline especially well. Download the $9 HD files with no watermark, or order a matte print, framed in wood if you prefer.
