Mjøsa Map Poster & Print

Mjøsa is the largest lake in Norway, stretching roughly north to south through the farmland of the Innlandet region. It is long and fairly narrow for most of its length, widening in the middle where the large island of Helgøya sits. Lillehammer lies at its northern end, and the river Vorma drains it from the south.

Three towns line its shores: Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics, Hamar on the eastern side and Gjøvik on the western side. The paddle steamer Skibladner, launched in 1856, still sails the lake in summer and is often described as the oldest paddle steamer in regular service.

A Mjøsa map poster shows a lake that is both rural and connected, with towns, railway lines and roads following its shores. The shape is long and elegant, with Helgøya breaking the middle, and the surrounding fields and forests leave the water as the clear centre of the composition.
