Hafjell Map Poster & Print
Hafjell lies in Øyer municipality, a short way north of Lillehammer, on the eastern side of the Gudbrandsdalen valley. From above, the ski area is a broad slope laid out on the valley side, with its runs pointing down toward the river Lågen and the main road and railway that follow it. The valley floor is flat and farmed, and the hills on both sides rise steadily.
The resort hosted the slalom and giant slalom events of the 1994 Winter Olympics, which were centred on Lillehammer. It was used again for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games. On the map, the Olympic legacy is quiet: a set of long, even runs that are easy to trace from the ridge down to the base.
