Strongsville is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland. It grew from a small farming community into a large suburb, and its map shows the classic pattern of the later twentieth century: curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, commercial areas along main roads, and wide blocks of open land and parks in between.
The city is shaped by two interstates. Interstate 71 runs north to south through Strongsville, and the Ohio Turnpike crosses the southern part of the city. Their interchanges form bold, looping shapes that anchor the map. Nearby, SouthPark Mall occupies a large block of commercial land with its ring of access roads.
A Strongsville map poster also captures the older centre, where a town square and commons recall the city's origins in the early nineteenth century; it takes its name from John Stoughton Strong, an early settler. To the east, the Mill Stream Run Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks follows a wooded river valley, adding a long green band to the composition.
