Suleja Map Poster & Print

Suleja lies in Niger State, right beside the Federal Capital Territory, and from above it looks almost like an extension of Abuja's western suburbs. The town has a dense, organically grown core, with streets packed tightly together, and it is ringed by rocky hills. Major highways pass along its edges, carrying traffic into the capital.

The town was formerly called Abuja, and when the new federal capital took that name in 1976 the old town was renamed Suleja. Nearby stands Zuma Rock, the enormous granite monolith that is one of the best-known natural landmarks in Nigeria.

A Suleja map poster shows a crowded, irregular core contrasted with the long lines of the highways and the open, hilly ground around them. The streets follow older paths rather than a grid, so the centre has a fine, intricate texture that stands out clearly in black and white.

Dense old core

The centre is a close mesh of small, winding streets, a pattern that grew over time and looks strikingly intricate from above.

02

Highway edges

Major roads toward Abuja skirt the town in long, confident lines, framing the dense centre and linking it into the capital region.

03

Rocky surroundings

Granite hills and outcrops break up the landscape nearby, leaving open spaces where streets cannot go.
