Te mapa
Talcahuano occupies the Tumbes peninsula and the low ground that ties it to the mainland, on the southern shore of the Bay of Concepción. On a map the city is defined by water on nearly every side: the bay to the north and east, San Vicente Bay to the west, and the hills of the peninsula rising above a narrow strip of flat land.
The city has long been one of Chile's main naval and fishing ports, and one of the Chilean Navy's most important bases is located here. Moored at the base is the Huáscar, a nineteenth-century ironclad now kept as a museum ship. In 2010 a major earthquake and tsunami struck the waterfront hard, and much of the harbour district was rebuilt afterwards.
A Talcahuano map poster shows how tightly the urban fabric is shaped by the coast. Docks and breakwaters extend into the water in straight, deliberate lines, while streets on the hills bend and fork to follow the contours. Printed in monochrome, the two bays frame the city like a pair of brackets around a working harbour.
The hilly peninsula north of the centre ends in open headland, its roads thinning into winding lines as the settled ground gives way to steep coastal terrain.
The Bay of Concepción and San Vicente Bay lie on either side of the city, so the built-up area appears on the map as a narrow neck of land between two expanses of water.
Piers, dry docks and breakwaters of the naval base and the fishing port form hard geometric edges along the shoreline, in contrast to the irregular hillside streets behind them.

Koteā ko Talcahuano
Talcahuano is a place of ships, sailors and seafood markets, and many people carry a strong attachment to its harbour. A map of the peninsula makes a fitting gift for someone who served here, grew up near the port, or simply remembers the view across the bay.
You can add a personal title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a family name or the year of a move. Noir brings out the dark water between the bays, and Sand gives a warmer coastal feel. Files cost $9 and come as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, without watermark.
