Te mapa
Tanah Merah, whose name means red earth, is a district town in Kelantan, the northeastern Malaysian state known for its Malay traditions and craft. It lies inland from the coastal capital Kota Bharu, in the lowlands where the Kelantan River runs toward the South China Sea.
On the map the river is the main feature. It is wide and curving, with the town set close to its bank. The East Coast railway line passes through Tanah Merah, and its track and the main roads give the town its structure. Beyond a compact centre of shophouse streets and government buildings, the land becomes kampung settlements, plantations and rice fields.
A Tanah Merah map poster has a river town's composition: dark water curving across, a knot of streets beside it, and the thin line of the railway leading away. It is a clear, calm picture of a place where much of Kelantan's inland life passes through.
The broad river bends past the town on its way north to the sea. In monochrome it is the dominant shape, and the streets are organised around it.
Tanah Merah is a stop on the railway through Kelantan. The track appears as a long, fine line entering and leaving the town.
Around the centre, village settlements spread along smaller roads through green country. They make a loose, scattered pattern at the edges of the print.

Koteā ko Tanah Merah
For those from Kelantan's interior, Tanah Merah is often the town of school, market and train journeys home. A framed map keeps that river and those streets close, wherever life has led.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed. You might add a kampung name or a year. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand for the look.
