Te mapa
Taroudant lies in the fertile Souss valley of southern Morocco, between the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas, inland from Agadir. Its defining feature on a map is the wall: long ochre ramparts of rammed earth enclose the old town, and their outline forms an irregular closed shape, broken by gates and bastions.
Inside, the medina is a dense mesh of narrow streets, souks and small squares, with a kasbah quarter in one part of the enclosure. Outside the walls, newer neighbourhoods and orchards of olive and citrus spread across the plain. The difference between the tightly packed interior and the looser outer districts is easy to read.
A Taroudant map poster draws attention to that enclosed shape, one of the best preserved walled towns in Morocco. It is well suited to travellers who stayed inside the ramparts, to people with roots in the Souss and to anyone who likes cities with a clear boundary.
The rammed-earth walls enclose the entire old town in a continuous ring several kilometres long, forming the dominant outline on the map.
Within the walls, narrow streets and market lanes crowd together in a dense pattern that contrasts with the open space beyond the ramparts.
Around the town, flat farmland and orchards stretch across the valley, with roads leading out toward Agadir and the Atlas mountains.

Koteā ko Taroudant
Taroudant's walls give it a shape few towns still have. A map of it is both a travel memory and a graphic object, calm enough for any room.
