Te mapa
Teluk Dalam is the main town of South Nias, on the island of Nias off the west coast of Sumatra. Its name means deep bay, and the map shows why. The town wraps around a sheltered inlet on the island's southern shore, with a harbour, a waterfront road and a compact web of streets rising gently inland from the water.
Beyond the town, the coast is a sequence of headlands, reefs and curved beaches. A short way west lie Lagundri Bay and the point at Sorake, known to surfers around the world for a long, consistent right-hand wave. Inland the hills rise steeply, and traditional villages of South Nias, such as Bawömataluo with its stone-jumping tradition, sit on ridges above the sea.
Much of the region was damaged in the 2005 Nias earthquake, and the town has been rebuilt since. A Teluk Dalam map poster shows it in its setting: a thin band of streets between the ocean and a green, folded interior, with roads running along the coast to the surf beaches and up into the hills.
The inlet that gives the town its name is the clearest shape on the map, a curved shoreline sheltering the harbour and the waterfront streets that face it.
A road follows the shore westward towards Lagundri Bay and Sorake, tracing a line of headlands and beaches that ends at one of Indonesia's best-known surf breaks.
Inland, roads climb to ridge-top villages of South Nias, where traditional settlements are laid out along a long stone-paved street lined by houses on both sides.

Koteā ko Teluk Dalam
Surfers who have spent a season at Lagundri often want a reminder of the coast they came to know. Families from South Nias may want their home town on the wall far from the island. The coastline alone makes a strong, simple composition.
Put the name of a trip, a year or a family name in the title and subtitle, keep or edit the coordinates line, and choose from five styles. Printed posters on matte paper ship from print partners in more than 30 countries, with an optional wooden frame.
