Thamesmead Map Poster & Print
Thamesmead lies on the south bank of the Thames in southeast London, on land that was once the Erith and Plumstead marshes. Building began in the late 1960s as an ambitious new town, and the map still shows the original plan. There are curved residential roads, raised walkways, long terraces, and a system of lakes and canals that manages water on the low ground.
Its concrete estates became famous on screen, most notably in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, which was partly filmed around Southmere Lake. The area has changed many times since, with newer housing and landscaping added. From above, though, the lakes and green corridors are still its strongest feature.
A Thamesmead map poster shows a side of London that rarely appears on prints. The river runs along the northern edge, the lakes form irregular pools of tone, and the canals thread between neighbourhoods. The result looks like an architectural drawing: clean, precise and a little unexpected on a wall.

Canals and smaller lakes were built to drain the former marsh. These waterways thread through the neighbourhoods as thin, winding lines.

The river forms the town's northern boundary, broad and nearly straight. Crossness lies to the west and Erith further east.
