Te mapa
Tirukkoyilur sits in northern Tamil Nadu, where the Pennaiyar river crosses the plains on its way to the Bay of Bengal. From above, the town looks compact. A knot of streets gathers around its main temple, and a broad, braided riverbed runs along one side and sets a clear natural edge. Around it, farmland and small villages fill the rest of the frame.
The town is known for the Ulagalantha Perumal temple, dedicated to Vishnu in his Trivikrama form and counted among the Divya Desams praised by the Tamil Alvar poets. Temple towns in this region are usually laid out with streets running around the sacred enclosure, and on a map that pattern shows as a set of rectangles nested inside one another, with the lanes growing looser further out.
A Tirukkoyilur map poster shows a place with a recognisable centre. The temple block anchors the composition, the river gives it a strong diagonal, and roads reach outward toward neighbouring towns. Printed in black and white, the contrast between the dense core and the open fields around it comes through clearly without needing any colour.
The central temple compound forms a solid rectangle, and the town's streets wrap around it. It is the most legible and grounding shape on the map.
The Pennaiyar runs past the town as a wide channel of sand and water. On the poster it shows as a broad band that separates the settlement from the country beyond.
Roads leave the compact centre toward other towns in the district, giving the edges of the map a loose, spoked structure.
