Te mapa
Tiruppur sits on the Noyyal River in western Tamil Nadu, east of Coimbatore. The river crosses the city from west to east, and the older town lies on both banks. From above, the built-up area spreads outward in every direction across flat country, with main roads leading out towards neighbouring towns.
The city is known as the knitwear capital of India. A large share of the country's cotton knit garment exports is made in Tiruppur's workshops, dyeing units and factories. That industry has shaped the map. Dense workshop districts and residential streets mix closely together, and growth along the main roads has joined formerly separate villages into one continuous town.
The street pattern is mostly irregular, the result of rapid growth rather than planning, with lanes branching off the arterial roads. A Tiruppur map poster shows a working city in its own terms: the river line, the radiating roads and a dense, busy texture of streets.
The river runs through the middle of the city from west to east. It is crossed by bridges and forms the main natural line on the map.
Arterial roads lead out towards Coimbatore, Erode and other towns. Development runs along each of them in long fingers.
Close-packed lanes where homes and garment units sit side by side. They produce the fine, tight street texture that fills much of the map.

Koteā ko Tiruppur
Tiruppur is a city built by work, and many families trace their livelihoods to its mills and workshops. A print of it honours that, and the river gives the design a clean central line.
Add a name, a year or a company milestone to the title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
