Te mapa
Tôlanaro, also known by its French name Fort-Dauphin, lies at the southeastern tip of Madagascar. The town occupies a small peninsula that reaches into the Indian Ocean, with bays curving away on either side. Behind it, a line of forested mountains rises close to the coast, so the town sits on a narrow strip between steep terrain and open sea.
The French built a fort here in the seventeenth century, one of the earliest European outposts on the island, and the town takes its older name from it. Today Tôlanaro is a port and a gateway to the southeast. The beaches around the peninsula, such as Libanona, and the nearby peak of Pic Saint-Louis are its best-known sights.
A Tôlanaro map poster is shaped mainly by its coastline. The peninsula gives the sheet a strong central form, the bays draw two open curves, and the streets fill the land in between before giving way to terrain. It is a striking and unusual map, and anyone who has travelled to Madagascar's far south will recognise it immediately.
The town's core stands on a compact headland that projects into the Indian Ocean. On paper it forms a clear, rounded silhouette with water on three sides.
Sandy bays sweep away from the peninsula along the coast. Their long curves balance the dense street pattern and give the print a sense of openness.
Forested mountains, including Pic Saint-Louis, rise just inland. On the map, roads thin out and bend as they approach the slopes behind the town.

Koteā ko Tôlanaro
Tôlanaro is a place that few people reach by chance, so those who have been there, whether for work, conservation or travel, tend to remember it well. A map of its peninsula and bays makes a precise, meaningful souvenir of a remote corner of the world.
The title, subtitle and coordinates are fully editable, so you can use either Tôlanaro or Fort-Dauphin. Choose from five styles, preview for free at 900 px, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster from a print partner.
