Trofa Map Poster & Print

Trofa is a town in the district of Porto in northern Portugal, set on the Ave river. It became a separate municipality in 1998, having previously been part of Santo Tirso. On the map, the river winds through the area in wide bends, and the town has grown along its banks and along the main roads leading out of it.

The railway has long been important here, with the line to the north passing through the town. Around the urban centre, the land is typical of the Minho borderlands. Small farms, woodland and scattered houses create a detailed, irregular pattern, with narrow roads connecting parishes and villages.

A Trofa map poster shows the town in its setting, with the Ave curving through the frame, the railway cutting a straight line and the countryside filling the edges. It offers a quiet, detailed view of a place that is closely linked to Porto yet keeps its own character.

01

The Ave river

The river flows through the municipality in wide meanders, the strongest natural line on the map and the reason the town developed where it did.

02

Railway line

Tracks run through the town on the route north from Porto, adding a firm, straight line against the curving river and roads.

03

Parish countryside

Small farms, woods and scattered houses cover the land around the town. Narrow roads link the parishes in a fine, irregular network.
