Te mapa
Ubaíra lies in the Vale do Jiquiriçá, in the interior of Bahia between the Atlantic coast and the drier uplands further west. The town occupies low ground in a hilly landscape. On a map its streets follow the terrain rather than a strict grid, stretching along the lower land and thinning out as the slopes rise on either side.
The Jiquiriçá valley is a green farming region, where crops such as bananas, cassava and cocoa grow on the hillsides, and small towns sit along the river and the roads that follow it. Ubaíra is one of them, a local centre for the surrounding rural communities. Its layout shows gradual growth along the valley rather than a single founding plan.
An Ubaíra map poster shows a town shaped by its valley: the winding line of streets along the low ground, the roads threading out between hills and the open countryside all around. It is a gentle, flowing composition, very different from the rigid grids of Brazil's planned towns, and it rewards a closer look.
Ubaíra's streets gather on the lower ground of the valley, forming an elongated built-up area whose outline follows the shape of the terrain.
The river that gives the region its name threads through the landscape around the town, adding a soft, meandering line to the map.
Green slopes with farms and tracks rise on both sides, creating an irregular, organic texture that frames the town in the finished poster.
