Bhagirathi River
The Bhagirathi runs through the town, and every street follows its line. Bridges cross it at several points, which gives the map a clear, flowing central axis.

Te mapa
Uttarkāshi lies in the Garhwal Himalaya of Uttarakhand, on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, one of the headstreams of the Ganges. From above, the town is long and narrow. The steep valley walls confine it, so streets run parallel to the river, bridges cross it at intervals, and houses climb the slopes wherever the ground permits.
The town is an important stop on the pilgrim route to Gangotri, and its Kashi Vishwanath temple gives it the name, the Kashi of the north. It is also home to the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. On the map, the road up the valley follows every bend of the river, and the mountains appear as wide empty space.
A Uttarkāshi map poster shows how the Himalaya shape a town. In black and white, the river becomes a strong flowing line, the town a slender band along it, and the mountain roads fine switchbacks. It suits pilgrims, trekkers, mountaineers and families from Garhwal who want the valley in view every day.
The Bhagirathi runs through the town, and every street follows its line. Bridges cross it at several points, which gives the map a clear, flowing central axis.
Steep slopes confine Uttarkāshi to a long, slender strip. On the map the built-up area stretches along the river instead of spreading outward.
The route to the Gangotri pilgrimage runs up the valley through the town. It follows the river's bends and forms a long, winding line across the poster.

Koteā ko Uttarkāshi
Uttarkāshi means a great deal to pilgrims, climbers and the families who live beneath its mountains. A map poster keeps that valley in view, the river, bridges and slopes, as a calm reminder of a journey or a home.
Edit the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a pilgrimage, a trek or a family origin, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
