Te mapa
Valley Station is a community in the southwestern part of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky. Its main axis is Dixie Highway, the long commercial corridor that runs southwest from central Louisville, and most residential streets branch off it into subdivisions on both sides.
To the west lies the Ohio River. The land between the highway and the river is low floodplain, and the map shows how development thins as it approaches the water, giving way to open land, parks and riverside ground. The river bend forms a broad natural edge for the whole area.
A Valley Station map poster captures that simple structure: one strong spine road, a scatter of looping suburban streets and the Ohio's sweeping curve along one side. It is a clear picture of how Louisville spread out along its main roads in the twentieth century, drawn in clean lines.
The long corridor of Dixie Highway runs through the community and is its most obvious feature, with side streets branching off like ribs on either side.
West of the neighbourhoods, low ground runs to the Ohio River, and development gives way to open land, so the river's curve dominates that side of the frame.
Short curving streets and cul-de-sacs fill the land between the main roads, the typical pattern of post-war suburbs on Louisville's southwestern edge.

For people who grew up off Dixie Highway or near the river, this map is about ordinary places: the family street, the school, the road into town. It makes a good gift for someone who has moved away from Louisville.
Add a family name, a street or a year to the title and subtitle, and choose one of five styles, from Classic black and white to Blueprint or Sand. Buy the $9 digital files for home printing, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
