Te mapa
Wesoła was an independent town until 2002, when it became a district of Warsaw. It still doesn't look like the rest of the capital. On a map it appears as a loose network of residential streets cut into large areas of forest. Pine woods cover much of the district, and houses stand on generous plots, so buildings take up much less of the map than in central Warsaw.
The railway line heading east from the city passes through Wesoła, and the settlements along it grew up as summer and villa colonies for Warsaw families in the early twentieth century. Their streets follow the edges of the forest and the old estate boundaries. The result is a mix of short grids, long curving roads and quiet dead ends that disappear into the trees.
A Wesoła map poster shows how Warsaw ends. The dense urban fabric thins out here, and green space takes over. The forest areas come out as broad, calm fields in the design, and the thin lines of residential streets thread between them. It suits people who value this edge of the city for its space, its air and its distance from the centre.
Large wooded areas cover much of the district. On the poster they become wide open spaces that set Wesoła apart from the tightly built parts of Warsaw.
The line out of Warsaw toward the east crosses the district. It was the reason the villa settlements appeared here in the first place.
Residential roads loop and branch around forest edges and old plot lines. They form small, individual street patterns that differ from one part of Wesoła to the next.

Koteā ko Wesoła
Wesoła draws people who chose trees over tram lines. A poster of the district is a reminder of that choice, whether you live there now or grew up among its woods and later moved into the city.
Personalise the title with Wesoła or the name of your neighbourhood, add a moving-in date as the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates. Paper and Sand bring out the softness of the forest areas. Noir makes the street network stand out sharply.
