Xinqing Map Poster & Print
Xinqing lies in the Yichun region of northern Heilongjiang, in the Lesser Khingan range, one of China's largest forest areas. From above, the town is a narrow settlement in a river valley. Its streets follow the valley floor, and dense forest covers the hills that rise on both sides.
Like many towns in the region, Xinqing grew around forestry. Its layout reflects that: a compact centre, a railway and roads running along the valley and neighbourhoods built in straight rows. The surrounding forest is now valued for conservation and wetlands as much as for timber.
