Diinsoor Map Poster & Print
Diinsoor is in the Bay region of southern Somalia, an area of fertile plains between the Jubba and Shabelle rivers known for sorghum farming and livestock. On a map the country around the town is broad and level, broken only by tracks, seasonal watercourses and scattered villages. The town itself is a compact grid of streets and compounds at the meeting point of several routes.
Like many towns in the Bay region, Diinsoor serves farmers and herders from the surrounding countryside as a market and meeting place. Its street layout reflects that role. Roads lead in from different directions and converge on the centre, and the edges of the town open out gradually into fields and grazing land.
