Winam Gulf shore
The irregular lakeshore bends around the city's western and southern sides, fringed with wetlands and small inlets that give the edge of the map a soft, natural line.

关于地图
Kisumu Map Poster & Print
Kisumu lies at the northeastern corner of Lake Victoria, on the shore of the Winam Gulf, a long inlet that reaches deep into western Kenya. The map shows a compact grid near the water, with the port and railway on the shoreline and main roads leading inland. Around it, newer neighbourhoods spread east and north, while papyrus wetlands and river mouths soften the edges of the lakeshore.
The city began as Port Florence, the lake terminus of the Uganda Railway completed in 1901, and it grew as the link between rail and steamer traffic on Lake Victoria. Today it is Kenya's third-largest city and the main centre of the Luo community, with lakeside areas such as Dunga known for fishing and the small Kisumu Impala Sanctuary on the shore.
A Kisumu map poster sets the city against the broad, calm shape of the lake. The water fills a large part of the composition, the shoreline curves around the gulf, and the streets gather in a neat grid close to the port before loosening into the suburbs. It is a picture of a city that has always looked toward the water.

Old town grid
Near the port, the original town is laid out in a regular grid of short blocks, the most orderly and densely drawn part of the poster.
Railway to the lake
The line that created the city still reaches the shore, a gently curving track that leads toward the old port area and the water.

为什么选Kisumu
一张有意义的地图
Kisumu has a strong pull for those who grew up by the lake, studied at its universities or left for Nairobi and further afield. A map of the city, with the gulf filling the frame, is a quiet reminder of lakeside evenings and of home.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to show an estate, a family name or a date that matters. Choose between five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as a $9 set of HD files or a printed matte poster.
