The map

About this Anak Bukit map poster

Anak Bukit is a subzone in Singapore's Bukit Timah planning area, and its name means little hill in Malay. It lies around Beauty World, along the busy Bukit Timah and Dunearn Roads, which run side by side on their way northwest from the city. Its place on the map is defined by that road pair and by the large green spaces nearby.

Just to the north is the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, one of the last large areas of primary rainforest in Singapore, surrounding the island's highest hill. The former railway line, now the Rail Corridor, a walking and cycling trail, runs through the area and adds a long green line across the neighbourhood.

An Anak Bukit map poster shows a side of Singapore that is rarely pictured. There are low-rise houses and condominiums, a few dense commercial blocks and quiet residential lanes, all set against forest and trail. In black and white, the balance between built and green is especially easy to read.

01

Bukit Timah corridor

Bukit Timah Road and Dunearn Road run in parallel through the area. Together they form a strong double line that anchors the whole composition.

02

Rail Corridor

The former railway line is now a green trail that crosses the neighbourhood. Its gentle, continuous curve cuts through the street pattern.

03

Forest edge

The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve borders the area to the north. On the map it appears as a wide expanse of open ground with almost no roads.
