The map
Antonina lies at the far inner end of Paranaguá Bay. On a map, the coastline is one of the town's main features. The historic centre faces the water, with a short grid of streets running down to the shore. Behind it, the land rises quickly towards the forested slopes of the Serra do Mar, so the town is squeezed into a narrow strip.
The bay is shallow and lined with mangroves, and on the page it forms wide, irregular shapes around the town. Small inlets and river mouths break up the shoreline. Streets become sparse where the ground turns wet or steep. An Antonina map poster captures this balance between a small built area and a large, calm body of water.
The town grew as a port in the colonial period and in the nineteenth century, and many of its old buildings are still standing. Today it is also known for its winter festival and as the end point of trips down from the plateau through the mountains. The poster shows the place where those roads finally reach the sea.

The edge of the bay is uneven, with small inlets and river mouths along it. It draws a soft, detailed border that is the most expressive element of the whole composition.
On the inland side, streets thin out quickly as the mountains begin. That leaves a quiet empty area that sets off the dense little town by the water.

Why Antonina
Antonina suits anyone who loves the Paraná coast, old port towns or the drive down from Curitiba through the mountains. The large area of water gives the print a calm, spacious look that works well in living rooms and reading corners.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to mark a trip or a family link to the bay. There are five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint makes the bay and its inlets especially clear.
