Narrow block grid
The eighteenth-century plan uses long, thin blocks in tight parallel rows. It is one of the most regular street patterns in Barcelona and very different from the square blocks of the Eixample.

The district
Barceloneta is a small triangle of land between Port Vell and the sea, and its map is unmistakable. Military engineers laid out the district in the mid-eighteenth century, partly to rehouse families displaced by the building of the Ciutadella fortress. Its blocks are extremely long and narrow, set in parallel rows. The plan was designed for low houses that were later built upward.
On one side, the quays of the old harbor frame the neighborhood, with marinas and the Passeig de Joan de Borbó along the water. On the other, the city beach runs in a long line toward the Olympic Port. At the southern tip, a tall sail-shaped hotel marks the end of the land, and a cable car tower rises above the harbor.
A Barceloneta map poster is almost entirely about geometry and water. The strips of blocks repeat like lines on a ruled page, fitted precisely into a wedge of land, and the sea fills a large part of the frame on two sides. The contrast between that dense pattern and the open water gives the print a clear, graphic character.

The sandy shore runs along the eastern side of the district. Its smooth coastline contrasts with the straight streets behind it.
The harbor edge on the western side is lined with marinas and a waterfront promenade. It gives the triangle its second firm border of water.

Why Barceloneta
People often connect Barceloneta with summers: a flat rented for a season, a seafood lunch, the walk from the beach back into the grid. Its simple shape makes a strong, readable print even at small sizes.
Add a title, a subtitle with a year, and a coordinates line. Choose from five styles, including Blueprint and Sand, and download the HD files or order a matte print, framed or unframed.
