The map
Bayaguana lies inland in the Dominican Republic's Monte Plata Province, surrounded by farmland and low green hills. The town was founded in 1606, when the colonial authorities moved people there from the island's northern coast. Its layout still reflects that planned start, with a modest grid of blocks around a central square and church.
From above, the town is small and orderly. Straight streets cross at right angles in the centre. At the edges they give way to rural roads that head out toward fields, pastures and scattered settlements. Streams run through the countryside around the town, adding thin, winding lines to an otherwise calm landscape.
Bayaguana is best known for its devotion to the Santo Cristo de los Milagros. Each year the traditional offering of bulls to the Cristo draws pilgrims from across the country. A Bayaguana map poster captures the setting of that tradition: a tidy colonial core with open country on every side.

Past the grid, roads spread outward into the farmland of Monte Plata. They draw long, loose lines toward nearby villages and pastures.
The church of the Santo Cristo sits at the heart of the town, and the map is arranged around it. It is the focus of one of the country's best-known religious traditions.

Why Bayaguana
For families from Bayaguana, and for pilgrims who have made the journey to the Santo Cristo, the town's small grid holds a lot of meaning. A map poster keeps that meaning in a quiet, graphic form.
You can change the title and subtitle, perhaps adding a family name or the date of a visit, and edit the coordinates line. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Choose a $9 HD download or a printed matte poster.
