The map

About this Bisālgarh map poster

Bisālgarh is a town in the Sipahijala district of Tripura, in north-east India, south of the state capital, Agartala. It lies close to the border with Bangladesh, among low, rounded hills called tillas and flat valleys planted with rice. The area also has extensive plantations, including the rubber gardens that are a feature of rural Tripura.

On a map, the town appears as a compact core of streets around its market, with the main road to Agartala running through. Beyond the centre, houses follow roads along the tops and sides of the hills, while the valleys between them stay open as fields and ponds. The result is a branching, irregular pattern that closely follows the land.

A Bisālgarh map poster renders the delicate relationship between hills, water and settlement in simple lines. In black and white the ponds appear as small solid shapes and the roads as fine curves, creating a quiet, intricate image. It is a meaningful piece for people from Sipahijala, whether they live nearby or far from Tripura.

01

Market town core

A small, dense cluster of streets marks the centre of Bisālgarh, where the main road and local routes meet around the market area.

02

Hills and valleys

Low wooded hills alternate with flat paddy valleys, so the roads curve and branch as they follow the higher ground across the map.

03

Ponds and water

Ponds and small bodies of water are scattered among the houses and fields. They are common in Tripura towns and add a distinctive detail to the poster.
