The map

About this Bornova map poster

Bornova lies on the north-eastern side of İzmir, inland from the head of the gulf. On a map it spreads across a flat plain before rising into hills to the east and north. Dense residential blocks fill the centre, while broad roads and the metro line connect it west to the rest of the city. Larger open areas mark campuses, parks and green hillsides.

The district is home to Ege University, whose large campus is a major part of Bornova's layout and character. In the nineteenth century, Bornova was a favoured place for İzmir's Levantine merchant families, and several of their old mansions and gardens still survive among the modern apartment blocks.

A Bornova map poster shows these layers together: the older, tighter streets near the historic centre, the regular apartment grids of later decades, the open expanse of the university and the contour-shaped roads climbing into the hills. It works well both as a district portrait and as a detailed piece of the wider İzmir map.

Why Bornova

A map that means something

Bornova is where many people in İzmir studied, started families or grew up among the old gardens. A map poster of the district recalls those streets precisely, and makes a thoughtful gift for Ege University graduates.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a faculty name or graduation year, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files are $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper with optional wooden frame.
