The map
Brvenica is a municipality in northwestern North Macedonia, lying in the Polog valley between the cities of Tetovo and Gostivar. Rather than a single town, it is made up of a group of villages spread across the flat valley floor, with the Šar Mountains rising to the west and lower ranges closing the valley to the east.
The Vardar, North Macedonia's longest river, flows through this upper part of the valley near its source, and the land around it is intensively farmed. From above, fields form a patchwork of long narrow strips, and villages appear as compact clusters linked by country roads and irrigation channels.
A Brvenica map poster captures this rural pattern in fine detail. Village cores, the river's gentle course and the network of lanes between them build up into a balanced, open composition. It is a portrait of a valley community rather than a city, and that quality gives the print a calm, spacious character.
The Vardar runs through the valley near its upper reaches, drawing a soft winding line across the flat farmland and connecting the municipality's villages.
Brvenica consists of several separate villages, each a small knot of streets, scattered across the valley floor like points on a constellation.
The Polog valley lies between the Šar Mountains to the west and lower hills to the east, giving the area its long, enclosed, level shape.

Why Brvenica
Many families from the Polog valley now live abroad, and a map of Brvenica is a way to keep the home village present in a flat in Zurich, Vienna or Chicago. It shows the exact lanes and fields people remember.
You can add a village name, a family surname or a date to the title and subtitle, or keep the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand to suit your room.
