About this Calvillo map poster
Calvillo lies in the west of the state of Aguascalientes, in a warm valley surrounded by mountains. Its centre has the traditional Mexican plan: a regular grid of streets around a main square, with the Church of San José and its large dome on one side. From above, the grid is clear and compact, and it loosens on the slopes at the edges of town.
The valley is known for guava, and Calvillo is often called the guava capital of Mexico. Orchards cover the surrounding land and show on the map as open space between rural roads. The town is also famous for deshilado, a fine traditional drawn-thread embroidery, and has been named a Pueblo Mágico.
