Two rivers meet
The Chirchiq flows into the Syr Darya near the town. Their wide, shifting channels give the map its most fluid and irregular lines.

The map
Chinoz lies in the southwest of Tashkent Region, close to where the Chirchiq river joins the Syr Darya. From above, the defining features are water and the geometry of irrigation. Wide river channels bend and braid to one side, and a patchwork of rectangular fields fed by canals stretches away on the other.
The town itself is a modest grid of streets and low-rise neighbourhoods, crossed by the roads and the railway that link it to Tashkent and the regions further southwest. Straight canals and field boundaries run up to the edges of the built-up area. As a result, the transition from town to farmland is ruled rather than ragged.
A Chinoz map poster brings out this contrast between the loose curves of the rivers and the ordered lines of cultivated land. It is a distinctly Central Asian landscape: flat, carefully divided, and shaped at every turn by the question of where water goes.
The Chirchiq flows into the Syr Darya near the town. Their wide, shifting channels give the map its most fluid and irregular lines.
Canals and field boundaries form long rectangles around the town. It is a precise pattern that reads almost like graph paper in black and white.
Transport lines toward Tashkent cross the town in straight strokes. They tie the compact street grid to the wider region.

Why Chinoz
Chinoz is a meaningful choice for anyone with roots in the Tashkent Region or along the Syr Darya. The combination of river curves and field geometry makes a striking, graphic image even for people who have never been there.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be edited, so you can add a name, a date or a few words of your own. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download HD files or order a print.
