关于地图
Al-Kut Map Poster & Print
Al-Kut sits in eastern Iraq on a sharp bend of the Tigris, and its map is defined by that loop. The river curls almost all the way around the older city and leaves it on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. Beyond the banks, the flat plain of central Mesopotamia stretches out, crossed by irrigation channels and farmland.
Just upstream, the Kut Barrage spans the Tigris and diverts water into the Gharraf canal, which runs south toward the lower Euphrates region. Both the barrage and the canal appear clearly as straight engineered lines against the natural curves of the river. An Al-Kut map poster shows both the river and the waterworks that manage it.
The city is known in modern history for the long siege of 1915–16, when British and Indian troops were surrounded in the river bend by Ottoman forces. Today it is the capital of Wasit Province and a market centre for the farmland around it.

Kut Barrage
The dam across the Tigris controls the flow of water for irrigation. It is a firm straight line that crosses the curve of the river.
Gharraf canal
A canal branches south from the Tigris at the city and carries water across the plain. Its long course leads away from the city toward the lower valleys.

为什么选 Al-Kut
一张有意义的地图
For families from Wasit living elsewhere in Iraq or abroad, the curve of the Tigris around Al-Kut is an instantly familiar shape. A map poster brings that river home and makes a thoughtful gift for a relative.
The title and subtitle can be written your own way, including Arabic text, a family name or a date, and the coordinates line can mark a house or a quarter. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
