关于地图
Kemerovo Map Poster & Print
Kemerovo is the capital of the Kuzbass, the coal basin of southwestern Siberia, and its map is built around the Tom River. The main city lies on the left bank, laid out as a regular grid of long avenues and quarters, while the Iskitimka River joins the Tom from the south. On the right bank, across the bridges, the Rudnichny district climbs away from the water in a less formal pattern.
The city in its present form was created in 1918 from the village of Shcheglovo and nearby settlements, and took the name Kemerovo in 1932. Coal was the reason it grew, and the first mines were opened on the right bank, where the Krasnaya Gorka museum now marks the beginnings of the industry that shaped the whole region.
A Kemerovo map poster shows how a river can organise a Soviet industrial city. The wide curve of the Tom sits across the frame, the planned centre reads as a clean lattice, and the edges dissolve into woodland and suburbs. In black and white the contrast between water, grid and open land becomes the whole picture.

Left-bank grid
The centre is laid out on straight, generous avenues and rectangular quarters, a Soviet planning signature that shows up on the map as a clear, even pattern of lines.
Iskitimka confluence
Where the smaller Iskitimka River meets the Tom, the map shows a secondary valley cutting into the city, breaking up the grid and adding a softer, winding line.
