关于地图
Korem Map Poster & Print
Korem lies in the southern part of Tigray, in the Ethiopian highlands at a high elevation. On a map it is a compact town on the main road that runs north toward Mekelle and south toward Amhara. Its streets are gathered on a stretch of relatively level ground among surrounding ridges and valleys.
In the mid-1980s Korem became widely known as the site of a large relief camp during the Ethiopian famine, and images from there reached audiences around the world. Today it is a local market and administrative town. Lake Hashenge, a highland lake, lies a short distance to the north and is one of the most distinctive landscape features in the area.
A Korem map poster is modest and clear. A main road, a small grid of town streets, and open, hilly land all around. It is a respectful way for people with family or personal ties to southern Tigray to keep their home town in view.

Compact centre
The streets cluster in a small, fairly regular area on level ground. This gives the town a clear outline against the surrounding land.
Highland terrain
Ridges and farmland surround the town on all sides. On the poster they become broad open space that emphasises the high setting.
