The Lena
The river is wide enough to fill much of the poster, with islands and shoals breaking up its surface. It is one of Siberia's great waterways.

关于地图
Lensk Map Poster & Print
Lensk stands on the left bank of the Lena in western Sakha. From above, the river dominates everything. It is wide, slow and flecked with islands and sandbars, and the town lies along its bank in a long, narrow band. Streets run parallel to the water, crossed by shorter roads leading back toward the forest.
The town serves as a river port and supply base for the diamond-mining region around Mirny, so wharves and storage yards take up part of the waterfront. In 2001, an ice jam on the Lena caused a severe spring flood that inundated much of the town and led to large-scale rebuilding.
A Lensk map poster shows a settlement defined by one great river. The broad sweep of water fills a large part of the frame, the streets hold a disciplined line beside it, and the dark mass of taiga surrounds everything else.

Riverside grid
The town's streets run parallel to the bank in a long, orderly strip. It is a clear, rhythmic pattern set against the open water.
Port and yards
Along the waterfront, larger plots mark the port and supply facilities. These serve the diamond-mining region further inland.

为什么选 Lensk
一张有意义的地图
Lensk means something to those who grew up on the Lena, worked in Yakutia's mining supply chain, or remember the town before and after 2001. The contrast between river and streets makes a powerful, simple image.
