Battle plain
The broad open plain around the town recalls the setting of the battle of 1071. It leaves large areas of the poster calm and nearly empty.

关于地图
Malazgirt Map Poster & Print
Malazgirt is in Muş province in eastern Turkey, on the high plateau of eastern Anatolia. Under the name Manzikert it gave its name to one of the most consequential battles in medieval history. In 1071 the Seljuk sultan Alp Arslan defeated the Byzantine army here and captured Emperor Romanos IV Diogenes, opening Anatolia to Turkish settlement.
On a map the town is compact. Streets form an irregular grid, and the older core is set around the historic fortress area. Around the town the landscape is wide and open. Farmland stretches across the plain, and the valley of the Murat River runs nearby. Roads cross the plateau toward Muş, Ağrı and Lake Van.
A Malazgirt map poster places a well-known name from history onto its real geography. The small town sits in a large, mostly empty plain. The simple lines of the streets, roads and river are enough to suggest the scale of the landscape where the armies met.

为什么选 Malazgirt
一张有意义的地图
Malazgirt matters to people from the town itself, and to anyone interested in Turkish, Byzantine or medieval history, since 1071 remains a symbolic date. A map of the place gives that history a physical form on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with 1071 or a family date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order the $9 HD files or a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
