Maych’ew Map Poster & Print
Maych’ew is a town in southern Tigray, in the Ethiopian highlands, on the main road that runs north toward Mekelle. On the map the highway is the organising line: the town stretches along it, and most side streets branch away in short blocks before giving way to open land.
The surrounding terrain is upland country, with fields, hills and seasonal watercourses. In a black-and-white print that shows up as a fine scatter of tracks and footpaths around a denser core, the kind of loose pattern that reflects how highland towns grow along roads rather than in planned grids.
The name is best known from the Battle of Maych’ew in 1936, one of the last major battles of the Italian invasion of Ethiopia. A Maych’ew map poster puts that name back on a simple, clear plan of the town as it looks today: one road, a compact centre and open highland around it.

Near the highway the street pattern becomes denser, a small cluster of blocks that marks the town centre against the lighter texture of its surroundings.
