Tom and Mras-Su
Two mountain rivers meet at Myski. Their channels, islands and floodplains form the backbone of the map and divide the town into distinct parts.

关于地图
Myski Map Poster & Print
Myski is in Kuzbass, in southern Siberia, on the Tom River at the point where the Mras-Su joins it. Both rivers come down out of the forested hills of Gornaya Shoria. On a map their meeting forms a clear Y-shape with the town on its banks. Around it are dark taiga slopes and the pale scars of open-cast coal mines.
The town grew mainly in the twentieth century with coal and energy. The Tom-Usinsk power station is one of its main landmarks. The street plan shows this history: regular districts of apartment blocks with wide spacing, a few straight main streets, and industrial areas and rail lines along the river terraces. Private houses fill the lower ground.
The area is also the traditional home of the Shors, the indigenous people of Gornaya Shoria, and many local names come from their language. A Myski map poster sets the planned Soviet town against a landscape of rivers and hills that is much older. The drawing is simple, but the geography is complicated.

Planned districts
The residential districts are made of evenly spaced apartment blocks on regular streets. Their rhythmic pattern contrasts with the curving rivers.
Industrial edge
The power station, rail lines and coal infrastructure sit along the river terraces. On the map they appear as large, simple rectangles and long straight tracks.

为什么选 Myski
一张有意义的地图
For miners, power engineers and their families, Myski is a place where life was built around shifts and rivers. A map of the confluence is a quiet, honest tribute to that. It reads well both in a flat and in an office.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the year you left or an old address. Choose from five styles: Noir suits the dark taiga, and Blueprint suits the industrial lines. Downloads are $9, and printed posters are also available.
