The map
Cyangugu sits at the southern end of Lake Kivu in western Rwanda, where the lake drains into the Rusizi River. Today it forms part of Rusizi District. Across the narrow outlet lies the much larger city of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On a map, the lake's jagged southern shore, the river and the two towns fit together tightly, with border bridges linking them.
The terrain is steep. Streets climb from the water in switchbacks and follow ridges between deep inlets, and the shoreline breaks into peninsulas and small bays. Inland, the hills rise towards Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of the largest montane forests in the region. Because the landscape is so steep, the streets rarely run straight for long.
A Cyangugu map poster shows a meeting point of lake, river and border in a single frame. The water occupies much of the composition, and the town's streets curve around it. It is a striking print for anyone who has lived, worked or travelled along the shores of Kivu.
The southern end of the lake breaks into bays and peninsulas, creating a complex, indented coastline that dominates the upper part of the map.
The narrow river channel leaving the lake marks the border with the DRC. Short bridges cross it to Bukavu on the opposite side.
Roads wind up steep slopes in bends and loops, and the town's layout follows the ridges between inlets rather than any grid.

Why Cyangugu
The map suits people with ties to the Kivu region, including residents, returning family and those who worked here for aid or development projects. Its mix of water and winding streets gives it strong visual interest even without any labels.
Title the poster Cyangugu or Rusizi, add a year or a short line in the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates if needed. Blueprint suits the large lake area well, and Classic black & white keeps the shoreline sharp. You can see a free watermarked preview before buying.
