About this Eersel map poster
Eersel lies in the Kempen, the sandy, wooded region of North Brabant southwest of Eindhoven. Its centre is organised around a broad, elongated market square lined with trees and old houses, and from above this open rectangle is the first thing the eye finds. Roads leave from each end toward the other villages in the municipality: Duizel, Knegsel, Steensel, Vessem and Wintelre.
Beyond the village the map loosens into fields, patches of forest and heathland, crossed by small brooks and straight farm lanes. The pattern is typical of the Kempen, with settlements strung along old routes and farmland in between, but the square gives Eersel a distinct identity. The historic centre around the Markt is protected as a village conservation area.
