El mapa
Burghausen is a town in Upper Bavaria on the Salzach, the river that forms the border with Austria here. It is known for its castle, which stretches for about a kilometre along a narrow ridge. It is often described as the longest castle complex in the world. On the map, the castle's outline is a long, thin strip between the river and a small lake.
The old town lies in a narrow space between the ridge and the Salzach, with its streets following the curve of the river. Below the castle's western side lies the Wöhrsee, a small lake popular for swimming. Beyond, a much larger modern town and a major chemical industry site spread out across the plateau.
A Burghausen map poster shows one of the most unusual town layouts in Bavaria. The river, the ridge and the lake are so close together that the whole historic core fits in a narrow strip. Across the water, the Austrian town of Ach adds a second bank to the picture.
The castle runs for about a kilometre along a narrow ridge above the river. It is a long, unmistakable shape that anchors the whole map.
The Salzach curves past the old town and forms the border with Austria. It is the widest and boldest line on the print.
A small lake lies at the foot of the castle ridge on the opposite side from the river. Together they frame the historic core on both sides.

Por qué Burghausen
People hang this map for its dramatic shape: a castle, a river border and a narrow old town on one sheet. It suits former residents, visitors and anyone interested in castles and borderlands.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a date or a short phrase. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint emphasises the precise geometry of the castle ridge.
