Pacific coastline
The eastern edge is a long, almost straight stretch of the Kashimanada coast. On paper it reads as one clean line along the length of the city, with dunes and pine belts just inland.

El mapa
On a map, Hokota runs north to south between two bodies of water. The Pacific coast forms its eastern border as one long, smooth line of sand with almost no bays or headlands. To the west, the shore of Lake Kitaura is quieter and more ragged. Between them sits a raised plateau, and most of the municipality's roads and farm plots are laid out across it.
The street pattern is sparse. A few main roads run the length of the city, and a thin net of farm lanes crosses between them, marking out rectangular fields, windbreaks and patches of woodland. The built-up areas are small clusters rather than one dense centre. A railway line runs along the plateau, and the stations along it draw modest knots of streets around them. The result is a map built mostly from lines and open space.
Hokota is best known in Japan for agriculture, especially melons, and the city is regularly counted among the country's leading melon-growing areas. That farming character shows clearly in black and white, with long rows, field edges and scattered homesteads. A Hokota map poster records a landscape shaped by cultivation more than by density, where a lake, a plateau and an ocean shore frame everything in between.
The eastern edge is a long, almost straight stretch of the Kashimanada coast. On paper it reads as one clean line along the length of the city, with dunes and pine belts just inland.
On the western side, the shoreline of Lake Kitaura is softer and more indented. Small inlets and low ground by the water contrast with the ruler-straight ocean coast on the other side.
The plateau between the two shores is divided into rectangular fields by farm lanes and windbreaks. Mapped this way, the agriculture that made Hokota's melons known across Japan becomes a fine geometric texture.

Por qué Hokota
People hang Hokota for the place it actually is: a family farm, a childhood summer by the sea, a first job on the plateau, or a melon season remembered every year. The map keeps the lake, the fields and the coast together in one quiet frame, so it reads as home without saying so.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a date that matters, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital HD files cost $9 and come in six sizes. Printed posters, with an optional wooden frame, ship from partners in 30+ countries.
