Liuxin lies in the Xuzhou area of northern Jiangsu, on the broad, low plain that covers much of this corner of the province. The ground is flat enough that roads, drainage channels and field boundaries run in long straight lines. On a map, the town appears as a denser knot of streets where several of those lines meet.
Around the centre, the older lanes are short and irregular, while newer development follows a looser grid of wider streets and larger blocks. Beyond them the pattern opens into farmland and villages, joined by country roads and water channels. What gives the image its character is the contrast between the compact core and the measured geometry of the surrounding plain.
Liuxin sits within easy reach of Xuzhou, long one of the main transport hubs of northern Jiangsu, and several roads on the map lead toward the larger city.
