El mapa
Nakano is one of Tokyo's special wards, immediately west of Shinjuku and among the most densely populated places in Japan. From above it looks like a finely woven fabric: countless narrow residential lanes, short blocks and small plots, cut through by a few broad arteries such as Ome Kaido and Yamate Dori, and by the straight run of the Chuo Line.
The Kanda, Zenpukuji and Myoshoji rivers pass through the ward in shallow valleys, often lined with walking paths and cherry trees. In the Edo period the shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi built vast kennels for stray dogs here, a product of his laws protecting animals. Parks such as Heiwa no Mori and the Philosophy Park add rare open spaces.
North of Nakano Station, Nakano Broadway draws collectors to its floors of shops for manga, anime and vintage goods, while the streets around it keep a local character of covered arcades and small bars. A Nakano map poster captures the ward at street level: a dense, human-scale network where every lane is drawn and river paths wind between the blocks.
The railway runs straight across the ward with Nakano Station at its centre, providing a firm reference line amid the tight residential streets on either side.
The Kanda and Zenpukuji rivers trace narrow green corridors through the south of the ward, their curves standing out against the dense background of small blocks.
Nakano's residential lanes are so closely packed that the map becomes almost a texture, a pattern that shows how much of Tokyo lives on small streets rather than grand avenues.

Por qué Nakano
Nakano is where many people rent their first Tokyo apartment, within walking distance of Shinjuku yet in a quieter neighbourhood. Its intricate map is a fitting reminder of those years, detailed enough to find a specific lane and a familiar station exit.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a move-in date, and add coordinates for an exact address. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. At 50×70 cm or 24×36″ the fine street pattern reads especially well.
