El mapa
Sho‘rchi is a town in the Surxondaryo Region of southern Uzbekistan, and the administrative centre of the district that shares its name. It sits in the broad valley of the Surxondaryo, where the land lies flat between ranges of mountains on either side. From above, the town looks like a dense cluster of streets surrounded by farmland divided into strips.
On the map the settlement follows the main north–south corridor through the valley, which carries both road and rail traffic toward the regional capital in the south. Residential lanes spread out on each side of this line in a loose grid, with blocks of courtyard houses giving the street pattern a fine, even texture. Toward the edges, the grid thins out and gives way to field boundaries.
The surrounding plain depends on irrigation, and thin water channels run through the countryside in long, mostly straight lines, dividing it into rectangles. A Sho‘rchi map poster keeps that relationship clear: the tight core of the town, the transport line running through it, and the geometric farmland around it, drawn in fine black lines on a pale ground.
The town lies along the main route that runs through the Surxondaryo valley, so its principal streets line up with a long transport axis that crosses the whole sheet.
Away from the main road, residential lanes form a close, fairly regular mesh of small blocks, which gives the map a dense and even texture at street level.
Around the built-up area, channels and field edges divide the valley floor into long rectangles, framing the town with a geometric pattern typical of irrigated Central Asian farmland.

Por qué Sho‘rchi
For people who grew up in Sho‘rchi or have family in the district, this map records a specific place that most atlases barely show. The streets people walk every day, the road out of town and the fields at its edges all appear on one sheet, drawn simply enough to suit a living room or a hallway.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, such as a family name, a year or the date you moved away. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
