Suntu is a town in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, in the highlands of the south-west. It is a modest settlement, and on a map it shows as a small group of streets where roads meet. The land around it is hilly and cultivated, with small farm plots and scattered homesteads covering the slopes.
In this part of Ethiopia, higher ground brings more rain, and the countryside is greener than many people expect. Streams cut through the hills and run down into the valleys. Rural paths link farms to the town and to neighbouring villages, forming a fine, irregular web across the terrain.
