Hillside lanes
Streets in the older part of Tabursuq wind across the slope in short, irregular turns. They create a dense and intricate area at the centre of the map.

El mapa
Tabursuq, often written Téboursouk, sits on a hillside in the Béja Governorate of northern Tunisia. From above, its street pattern shows the slope. Lanes wind and switch back, the old centre is tightly packed, and newer quarters are more open on the lower ground. Around the town, the land spreads out in a patchwork of fields and olive groves that make up much of the region.
The town stands on the site of the ancient Thubursicum Bure. It is best known as the nearest town to Dougga, the remarkably preserved Roman city just a few kilometres away, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tabursuq is the usual base for visitors to the ruins and has its own long history of settlement.
A Tabursuq map poster combines the close texture of a North African hill town with the open agricultural landscape of the Tell. In black and white, the curving, climbing lanes of the centre contrast clearly with the straight rural tracks outside. The image recalls a town that has watched over this valley for more than two thousand years.

The Roman city of Dougga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies a few kilometres away. This makes Tabursuq a natural stop for anyone exploring ancient Tunisia.
Around the town the land is farmed in broad plots and orchards. Rural roads and tracks divide it across the outer edges of the poster.

Por qué Tabursuq
A Tabursuq map suits people with family in the Béja region and travellers who remember the road to Dougga. The hillside street pattern gives it a character quite unlike a flat, planned town.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the date of a visit. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The $9 HD files include six sizes, each as a PNG and a print-ready PDF.
