Aurès foothills
The mountains rise to the south of the town, and the street network stops where the slopes begin, giving the map a clear natural edge.

La carte
Khenchela Map Poster & Print
Khenchela sits in northeastern Algeria on the northern side of the Aurès mountains, at an altitude of roughly a thousand metres. From above, the town spreads across fairly open, gently sloping ground, with the mountains rising to the south. The older centre is fairly compact, and newer neighbourhoods and housing estates fan outward along the main roads, becoming more regular as they move away from the core.
The site has been occupied for a long time. In Roman times a settlement called Mascula stood here, part of the network of towns in the province of Numidia. Today Khenchela is the capital of its own wilaya, a regional centre for the farming and pastoral lands of the high plateau and the Aurès foothills around it.
A Khenchela map poster captures a town shaped by its setting. Roads reach out across the plateau like spokes, blocks of housing sit in tidy rows at the edges, and the land beyond is wide and open. The contrast between the dense centre and the empty upland around it gives the print its structure, set against the long line of the mountains.

Radiating roads
Main routes leave the centre toward neighbouring towns across the plateau, forming lines that organise the newer districts along them.
Planned estates
On the outskirts, newer housing is laid out in regular blocks and rows, a clear change in pattern from the older streets closer to the centre.
