Two coastlines
Palk Bay and the Gulf of Mannar lie on either side of town. Their shores frame a narrow strip of land, which gives the poster a very distinctive shape.

La carte
Mandapam Map Poster & Print
Mandapam is on a thin strip of land in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. Water lies on both sides: Palk Bay to the north and the Gulf of Mannar to the south. It is the mainland end of the crossing to Pamban Island and Rameswaram, and the road bridge and the railway bridge over the Pamban channel start just beyond the town.
On the map, the two coastlines press the town into a long, narrow shape. Streets run along the land's spine, with fishing settlements near the shore. The Gulf of Mannar is known for its coral reefs and marine life, and Mandapam hosts a regional centre of the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. The sea takes up most of the frame around the town.
A Mandapam map poster is a strong graphic image: a slim band of streets between two bodies of water, with the bridges reaching out towards the island. It appeals to pilgrims who have passed through on the way to Rameswaram, and to people with family ties to this coast.

Pourquoi Mandapam
Une carte qui a du sens
Mandapam is a threshold: the last stretch of mainland before the island. That makes its map meaningful to pilgrims, to people from the coast, and to anyone drawn to places defined by the sea.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a pilgrimage date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style shows off the two coastlines especially clearly.
